‘Churchill: Walking With Destiny’ by Andrew Roberts

This year’s speaker at the inaugural Evelyn Wrench lecture will be acclaimed historian and journalist Andrew Roberts. His biography of Sir Winston Churchill has enjoyed rave reviews. Through tantalising new sources, including the private diaries of King George VI, Roberts will paint a picture of former ESU Chairman Winston Churchill’s powerful sense of destiny and his belief in the central role of the English-speaking peoples in promoting Western civilisation.

18:30 Reception with a welcome glass of wine

19:00 Lecture begins followed by a Q&A and book signing

20:30 Two-course dinner with Andrew Roberts

For guests wishing to dine, an intimate two-course supper (with wine) with the speaker will be served in Dartmouth House's elegant WedgwoodRoom.

Tickets for the lecture and a glass of wine are £35 plus a £2.90 admin fee. Tickets for the lecture and dinner are £100. This celebratory evening is in support of the ESU's education programmes. Every ticket sold will help the English-Speaking Union in its work to give young people the speaking and listening skills and cultural understanding they need to thrive.
