Rotary Club of Marylebone

Our rotary club is doing a lot for the Marylebone community that is not widely known. During 2017/18 under the leadership of President Robert Ghazi, the club has taken up three local projects and one International project . We have raised funds for the following projects:

Trust, founded in 1996 by survivors, counsellors and others working with women affected by domestic violence who identified a lack of specialist support to help women recover from the long-term mental health effects of abuse. Statistics show that 30% of women in the U.K. will experience DV in their lifetime and the figure is higher in London. We have raised £2000 for this project.

STREETSMART, helping the homeless, was established in 1998 and since then has raised funds to meet the needs of the homeless. One way StreetSmart raises funds is by adding a voluntary £1 to restaurant bills and a number of local Marylebone restaurants do this. Rotary is donating a portion its lunch funds to the charity.

The Orchestra exists to provide a unique training experience to London’s most talented young musicians in the crucial period between music college and their professional lives. Part of the orchestra’s annual work is a project called “Noisy Notes”aimed at children’s audiences and a number of performances have been based here in Marylebone.Comedian Sue Perkins and rock legend Rick Wakeman donate their time to support the charity. We have raised £2000 for the charity.

Established in 2015 , the charity provides training for local medical and nursing teams in conflict and disaster zones throughout the world. We have raised £2000 for the charity.

We have raised £6,691 this year and continue to work hard to support the our community. So you can see that the Rotary Club of St. Marylebone is more than a lunch club.
