Marylebone Library Consultation Process - Update

The first phase consultation to relocate the Marylebone library to the Seymour Leisure Centre closed on 18th March 2018. The Council are now reviewing the 90 responses they received and a report will be available in May. The most commonly asked questions were: about funding, access and the current nursery.

We understand that funding is secured. Discussions are underway to see if Leisure Centre members and library users can access both services through internal doors. We understand that the Council are working with the nursery to assist them in finding another location. We will be pressing the Council that this should remain in the catchment area for the nursery and not be priced out of Marylebone. The Marylebone Association is also particularly concerned by the planned loss of soft play space. The west of Marylebone is already identified as suffering from a lack of outdoor play space. Removing our community's only indoor play space along with a nursery is concerning.

A further official six-week consultation will be launched in June. At which time the Council will present the detailed drawings (partially based on engagement feedback); provide proposed furniture materials and visuals of how the spaces have been designed to work seamlessly for users.
