Council takes action on illegal pedicabs

Council takes action on illegal pedicabs

Westminster City Council, the Police and UK Border Agency carried out an operation at the end of July to target pedicab operators who were not adhering to the regulations which dictate that amplified music is not permitted and that, after nine pm, no music is permitted which would cause a disturbance to local residents and businesses. A few pedicab operators have been prosecuted, a couple deported, and many made aware of the regulations which govern their use at the moment. Some unsafe pedicabs have been confiscated and destroyed.

If you are disturbed by noisy pedicabs, or see unsafe practices, please call the Environmental Action Line on 020 7641 2000 to report, so that information can be gathered for further future action where these are causing a disturbance.

Note: It is important to call or email the Environmental Action Line, as then it gets recorded, whereas emailing the Noise Team does not necessarily get swift action or get recorded
