The Philological Foundation (formerly the St. Marylebone Grammar School Foundation) is an educational charity making grants to individuals and schools in Westminster and Camden. They have a capital fund of £1.3 million and in 2015-16 gave grants of £29,000.
Decisions about grants are taken by trustees, who usually meet five times a year, and the day-to-day business affairs are administered by a part-time clerk. As a result of recent retirements, they have vacancies for three trustees: one appointed by the City of Westminster, one appointed by the University of London and one co-opted.
They are keen to recruit trustees who can contribute to their work by bringing experience and awareness of:
- Challenges facing young people and students today
- Schools and tertiary education
- Marketing and promotion
- Business and finance
