The Licensing Sub-committee continues to monitor all applications for new and modified licence applications in our area. Our objective remains to ensure that the needs of residents are fully met during all hours of the night and day. Commercial businesses may have other needs in order to have viable businesses but we aim to ensure that all parties' needs can be satisfied.
Noise is one of the main issues; either from inside or outside of the premises during normal licensed hours, or later in the night when customers leave the premises, and when rubbish is put out for later collection. The 'Noise Officer' at Westminster City Hall is waiting for your phone calls whenever the noise situation is bad. Do call him. Even if he does not respond or visit you immediately, all calls are logged, including anonymous ones, and they could lead to reviews being made of the particular licence.
We work closely with other residents associations to ensure that we all speak as one voice. For example, we worked closely with the Hyde Park Residents' Association over the issue of noise emanating from Hyde Park concerts and the ongoing issue of the Edgware Road that is identified by the police as a 'STRESS' area. Together, we aim to limit the very late night opening hours of restaurants, casinos and other premises.
