Topkapi becoming Slowear - The slow death of neighbourhood favourites?

Topkapi becoming Slowear - The slow death of neighbourhood favourites?

Topkapi one of Marylebone’s oldest Turkish restaurant has sold its lease at a premium to an international retailer Slowear at 25 Marylebone High Street

Topkapi, which had been part of the neighbourhood for more than 40 years, has sold its lease to luxury Italian fashion brand Slowear. We understand that Slowear the retailer paid a £750,000 premium to Topkapi for the remainder of their lease, which lasts for another 18 years. Slowear will pay rent of £178,000 per annum to the Howard de Walden’s estate for the 1,200 sq ft space.

The move is part of a continued trend of long-standing establishments in the area selling their leases to new fashion retailers.

If you can't wait for Slowear to open on Marylebone High Street you can walk 5 mins to 58 South Molton Street, where they already have a store. If like me you will miss Topkapi and their friendly service you will now have to walk further to find outstanding Turkish takeaway. If you like to eat in try Ishtar on Crawford Street.
