Baker Street Two Way Scheme - Bus Proposals

Transport for London has finally begun its consultation on proposed changes to bus routes within the Baker Street Two-Way Scheme. The details can be found at consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/baker-street where you can also have your say. The consultation is open until 4 September.
The Marylebone Association will be commenting on the totality of the Baker Street Scheme before the end of July.

Oxford Street Buses

The Evening Standard on the 18th June made a front page story from an apparent comment by the, now outgoing, TfL Commissioner, Sir Peter Hendy, that buses could be moved from Oxford Street to adjacent streets such as Wigmore Street. This was tied to the launch of a West End Partnership Vision document in which no such proposal is made. We, and our neighbouring amenity societies, have consistently objected to any such proposals on the grounds that moving pollution from commercial to residential streets does not solve a problem but exacerbates it. This has been our view throughout the discussions of the West End Partnership Transport Group. The Evening Standard printed my letter of reply, below, on 23 June (minus only one paragraph!)

20mph Speed Limit Quiz

In the Association's 2015 Annual Report we asked residents to express their view on 20mph zones in Westminster. Several residents' associations requested that 20mph zones or borough-wide limits be introduced in responding to the WCC draft Cycling Strategy. However many people do not understand many of the facts around details of 20mph zones. Westminster Living Streets the Borough of Westminster branch of the national charity that stands up for pedestrians have put together a simple interactive quiz to test your knowledge on 20mph zones. Tfl has announced details of its all night tub service. The Night Tube will be running all night on Fridays and Saturdays and launches in the early hours of Saturday 12 September.
