The Marble Arch Business Improvement District Launched

The Marble Arch Business Improvement District Launched

 The Marble Arch Business Improvement District has been launched after businesses in the area voted for the programme which will see c.£2.5m invested over five years. Businesses voted in February 2016 to establish a Business Improvement District (BID) for the Marble Arch area, with 78% voting in favour, rising to 88% by rateable value. Turnout was 60%. The result of the ballot was declared by City of Westminster’s Returning Officer on Friday 26 February.

Tesco Express in Marylebone High Street to close

Tesco Express in Marylebone High Street to close

The Tesco Express branch in Marylebone High Street which opened in 2003 will close early next month. The High Street store, which employs 36 staff, will shut its doors for good on March 12. Tesco say a rise in rent was behind its decision. Tesco's other stores in Marylebone, George Street and Baker Street are not effected as far as we are aware.

Do you want Superfast Fibre Broadband in Marylebone? Then express your interest!

Westminster, including Marylebone has one of the lowest levels of coverage anywhere in London for superfast broadband! This is despite it being the borough with the highest concentration of jobs provided by SMEs employing 1-10 people and a supposed centre for creative industries, let alone a quarter of a million citizens! It almost seems a national disgrace that the centre of the capital city in terms of Westminster and City has the worst percentage coverage. Now it is time to have your say.

Nicolas - Wine Merchant on Marylebone High Street closes

After the demise of Oddbins, another High Street Wine Merchant, Nicolas closed its doors yesterday (Sunday 25th January). Will their old premises become yet another high end fashion retailer in Marylebone? It will be interesting to see what replaces Nicolas. In the meantime local residents will have to look further afield if they want find another dedicated wine merchant.
